PERSIAN KITTY WITH A FACE CYST

I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT A LARGE CYST ON MY CAT'S RIGHT SIDE OF HIS FACE. IT LOOKS LIKE A  PIECE OF FAT OR FLESH WHICH EXTENDS FROM THE SIDE OF HIS FACE  ABOUT TWO INCHES BELOW HIS EAR. WHAT IS THIS? HE DOSEN'T TRY TO TOUCH IT AND WHEN I TOUCH IT, HE DOSEN'T PULL AWAY. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS CAN BE AND WHAT CAUSES IT.
DESPERATE FOR ANSWERS.

Hi Barbara,

Thank you for saying you will keep me posted on Rocco's condition.
I wish you and Rocco well. I will say hello to Sammy from both of you.
You said Rocco is your fourth cat.  Sammy is our sweet darling little guy we adopted from a cat rescue almost three years ago now. We love him
too.  All of our kitties have been rescues from either an animal shelter or in Sammy's case a cat rescue organization. Sammy is our third cat and we love him very much too. You're right. Cats are such wonderful companions.
Warmest wishes,  Eve

Hi Eve:

Thank you for the wise advice on finding a reputable vet in this area. Fortunately, most of my neighbors have pets, both cats and dogs, so I will ask them.

I'll keep you posted on Rocco's condition and say hello to Sammy for us. Cats are such wonderful companions....Rocco is my fourth cat. I just love him.

Best regards

Hi Barbara,

I'm very glad to hear that you will be taking Rocco to a vet to have the cyst
looked at. You mentioned you moved to Florida. If you know anyone in Florida who has pets, perhaps you could ask them what veterinary practice they use. I find that this is better than just opening the phone book and choosing one from the phone book without any references from anyone else.  As far as pet insurance, unfortunately I can't give you any information. You could goggle pet insurance, compare rates etc. I wish you and Rocco well.  Please let us know what the vet says. We are all pet parents on this forum and we all support each other .  Eve ( mother of Sammy the cat )

Hello CML
Thanks for your advice. I will be taking Rocco to see a vet soon. We just moved to Florida and I'm in the mist of finding doctors and vets. I'll let you know the diagnosis. Thanks again for your concern.

Thank you, Eve for your concern and advice. I will be taking Rocco to a vet soon. I know that is the best decision. Also, would you have any information on Pet Insurance? Vet bills are costly and He will need more visits from time to time. He just had his vaccinations last month. That took place in New York. We recently moved to Florida. So I have to find a vet in this area. I will most likely need pet insurance soon.
Thanks for your help

Hi Rocco,

It is hard to say what this growth might be. The only one that can tell you that is your vet. Please take her as soon as you can. A growth of any kind really needs to be investigated.

Please let us know what your vet says, K?

Best Wishes,
CML

Hello there,

I just finished reading your comments. If you haven't brought your kitty to see your vet, I definitely would recommend this. Especially a cyst located below kitty's ear. Even though kitty doesn't try to touch the cyst or he doesn't pull away when you touch it, this doesn't mean that the cyst isn't bothering him. I know other pet parents will no doubt be offering you suggestions. I see you joined Med help recently. Welcome to the Cat forum.
I wish you and your kitty well.  Eve ( mother of Sammy the cat )
