female cat backs against wall to pee like a male cat?

My female cat backs against a wall to pee sometimes and wonder if something is wrong with her? I know un altered male cats do this to scent and claim territory, I wonder if she is copying a male cat she saw do this or is she claiming territory also or having trouble peeing as she does crouch to pee usually?

okay she must be marking her territory on an outside brick wall where I used to live so no damage. She doesn't have urgency and goes in the litter box. thanks

could also be a sign of a bladder infection &/or crystals and wouldn't hurt to get a urinalysis done at the Vets, could also check her anal glands.

cleaning the area with vinegar/water solution also needs baking soda and some 3% hydrogen peroxide added to the mix. if that doesn't work you can get some good enzyme cleaning solution at a good pet store..

Your cat is marking her territory.  Best way to diminish this behavior is to wipe the area on the wall with a water and vinegar mixture: the smell will stop her from marking that spot again.  ( mix water and vinegar 4:1, adjust strength as needed).  Oh and try it on a not easily seen area first, just to be sure it does not damage your wall.
