Struvite crystals

My daughters cat had a UTI and when they took the urine culture the vet said he had microscopic struvite crystals.
He said she needed to by prescription science diet c/d food dry, that he would have to be on the rest of his life.
he is about 8 or 9 years old.

Has anyone had this problem and what worked for you,

Post this on the EXPERT FORUM..maybe they can give you more answers....Science diet is a good food but I think there are others too....there is one ingredient that needs to be low and I can't remember which?
Ash? I will try to search more later because I too have males and would like to know....one member posted previously that because her cat doesn't drink enough she gives him water via a syringe daily and maybe thats a good idea too, they need to drink lots to keep flushing the crystals out...good luck.
