I am extremely sorry for you loss. I might be facing the same thing with having to say goodbye to my kitty. She is only 1yr old, almost 2. I know what a hard discission it was to make.
Many Blessings and Take Care
If this note gets to you after the fact................I am so sorry for your loss. Try to remember that our pet friends never really leave us, and they 'stick around' in spirit. You can rest easy if you did everything you possibly could to help your kitty, and that you honored her with your love at her passing. These little furry creatures sooooo appreciate our love and kindness; no less than a human being does. Just by getting on this forum and asking what you did, you showed tremendous love and consideration. Be proud of yourself, and take comfort in knowing that your little furry gift is ever so grateful for your loving care. Always....not just in life, but in passing too. I highly recommend a book called 'Ask the Very Beasts'.......author: Marilyn Geddes. She is a shaman that does Journeys for animals, and her book talks about the sorts of things that are important to cats. It is a new book, and I am not sure where it is available outside of my city (Calgary, Alberta, Canada), but if you can get a copy - do so. Marrilyn's Journeys to all beasts are soooo heart warming to those of us who know that our pets are more than just 'decoration'! Blessings.
Thanks a lot for your comments, I will say goodbye to her today...
Your comments and your your simpathy really ease the pain....
Chris
I know this will sound corny, Chris, but every time I've had a cat that was near the end of its life, they have always let me 'know' it is time. It can be a look, not wanting attention, wanting 'too much' attention, etc.
Just remember, as hard as it is to euthanize them, it is the most loving thing you can do for your fur-friend; to be able to ease their way is a blessing we animal people can do to thank our companion animals.
Take care.
I always use the following as a guideline; eating and grooming. Especially grooming. These are two things a happy cat does.
When they no longer can or don't want to do these things, it's time to take some sort of serious action.
