Margy,
Leave them at the Hilton Resort!
I have had some surprising responses, I looked up on google to find a house sitter/ pet sitter and lo and behold came up with 4 willing to come and stay in my house ...I haven't set the actual date yet but looks like thats the way I will go and have the person come round a few times to get used to Tweety .I am feeling somewhat relieved about this , the fees aren't as bad as I thought and at least I will know that she is in her own home .thanks for all the input ...
Most areas also have professional cat sitters. Since we have 4 cats this is actually less expensive than paying the boarding fees for 4 of them. That way they can stay in the home they are use to and comfortable in and she feeds them and cleans their litter box and makes sure all is well. Only one of our cats goes outside, but he is not allowed out while we are gone. He isn't happy about that, but happier than if we took him to be boarded.
LOL......oh aren't we all?? ♥
hahahah Tweety was the stray not me .....lol well I dont know about that come to think of it
I will check out a few vets , it is the cage situation that bothers me a lot, having been a stray it would be so upsetting but I cannot tell my family, with a new baby 'I cant come visit you because I am worried my kitty will miss me ' they wouldnt understand LOl I like that idea of the Kitty condo's ..I need a new vet anyway having moved and she is due a check up .
Hi Margy, we had to board our Tommy over Christmas for 3 weeks. I didn't know anyone in the area so I visited a few Vet's and chose one that also had boarding with Kitty Condos, not cages. The area connected to the one above and below and if they didn't need the space for another cat they would allow Tommy to roam from one to the other. They played with him a lot because he is very affectionate and was only 3 months old. I really hated to have to leave him but I had no choice and I felt comfortable with the place. They had a website and I could check in on him and see their posts on how he was doing. I think human contact plays a big part and I felt like the girls in the office were going to give him plenty of attention.
i am with anniebrooke i would board her at the vet. our vet has little rooms as well.
My cats board at their vet. They love it. The vet techs baby them, and while they do have cages to go to, they are rotated out so one or two of them at a time can be out in the room. I once was told by a tech that she was doing her work with one of our cats in her lap. The cat that boarded there most (he needed twice-daily shots, so he would often get boarded when the other cats stayed home if we were gone for only a day or two) liked it so much that we started referring to the place as his day spa. He always looked happier to go there than he did at home.
If you have a vet with a boarding facility, talk to them and find out what the cats do in the day. Kitties are very adaptable. Tweety might surprise you by coming through a couple of weeks of boarding much more calmly than you do. :)
