If you see worms on the cat's backside, they are probably tapeworm larvae, (like little white grains of rice that very slowly move) and there are NO over-the-counter meds that treat tapeworm reliably. Take the cat to the vet, have it weighed, and they will give you tapeworm meds. End cost, probably around 15.00$US.
HMMM thats all? well when my cat had worms before (rice looking) we found a med at petsmart that was suppose to get rid of them..and it did..but now my mom is saying that she thinks she has them..havent seen any worms on her but she is an outdoor cat...
It may lessen the number of larvae, and damage the tapeworm into not reproducing, but that does not mean that it worked - that just means the tapeworm is still in the cat's gut, but not dropping segments. You have to have a medication that will kill the tapeworm's head and cause it to disengage from the intestine, not just create the appearance of function. I'd be leery of any OTC remedy that claimed to get 'rid' of tapeworms, personally.
