Hi all. My cat have a hematoma. My cat is now pregnant. Is is safe for her to apply it on or orally?
I have never used this for my cats however I have read it can be used for hemorrhage or emergency bleeding situation. I would use the powder EXTERNALLY as a poultice.
you mentioned it is draining...that indicates an infection is present, this herb is effective only for bleeding and will do nothing for the infection, this kitty really needs to see a Vet for some antibiotics....please don't wait too long.
is yunnan baiyao powder safe to put on my cat that was in a fight? She has open wounds that is bleeding and draining. Will this help to drain wound and promote healing?
sorry to hear abt your kitty's troubles....sweetypeas post is an old one from back in July, I don't think this person is active on this forum any longer(?) I will give you a link to send her a private message and she should get notification in her email so she hopefully will reply to you.....good luck♥

Im looking into trying this for my kitty. Do you think it really helped? My Rudy has an ear totally full. Has been drained once. He is on Steroids but its not working at all. It has been a week now and Im so worried.
This is a followup to my June 23rd comment re using Yunnan Baiyao on my cat's hematoma (on his ear). We continued using the paste for a couple of weeks and now the hematoma is completely gone - no surgery.
The ear has a little wrinkle in it - doesn't stand straight up but I understand that would have happened even if he had the surgery. We will never know for sure if the Yunnan Baiyao did the trick or if he would have healed anyway but we would not hesitate to try it again.
Melissa, your advice helped quite a lot - at least that's what we think at this point! We received the Yunnan Baiyao powder last Saturday (l wk ago). His hematoma had been drained a few days before and had swollen again so we figured we needed to have it drained again, or do surgery. We decided to make a paste out of the powder and apply it 2 - 3 times a day. At first, he resisted and it seemed to hurt when I put it on. Now, the swelling is the same but HAD NOT GROWN and he seems to actually enjoy it when I put it on - no pain. We are amazed. Next plan of action is to have it drained one more time then start putting the powder on before it swells - and see what happens. The reason we are trying so hard to avoid surgery is because he has to wear that horrible cone for 2 - 3 weeks and that is so miserable. I will let you know what happens.......thanks for your help. I hope this is helpful for anyone who has a cat with a hematoma!
Yes---there is a lot of info online about it working for cats/dogs for hematoma. Here's the link to the Google search with results--please read the articles.

this is a Chinese homeopathic herb used in humans to stop excessive GI bleeding. can also be used as a poultice to stop a nose bleed.
I would imagine externally it could be used on a cat, but how do the testimonials claim it helps for a hematoma?

Note that elsewhere it says this stuff tastes terrible. But you can get empty gelcaps at a Walgreens pharmacist (from the pharmacist--tell them you need them to give an herbal treatment to a cat) for a few cents each, and can put the medication into the capsules to pill the cat. Otherwise you can mix the powder with some kitty LOVES that is really smelly and tasty like a tablespoon of tuna packed in spring water (never in oil).
