I forgot to say, he's neutered too. Grandma made sure to get that done shortly after getting him. Waldo is neutered too. I got him as a 9 year old. He is 13 I think.
Sahib probably is only two. He was an older kitten when grandma got him.
It's a he. His name is Sahib (meaning "Master" in some language) We think he's about two or three. He's still a young cat and very active. I'll see if I can suggest the kitty fountain and offer to pay the cost of it. I don't like the sink idea as well because it wastes a lot of water, although I'm sure we have some leaks. I'm sure I'll run into a conflict:
I'm serious about keeping the cat. My grandma likes her cat, but she isn't as serious. It's her cat and she makes the decision.
I have my cat Waldo. He's much older. I have the say about him. The two cats play wrestle on occasion, but mostly my cat sleeps and isn't much entertainment.
Then we have a lifestyle conflict. I think our house is more suited for a laid back cat than a wild hyper one. Waldo fits in really well.
I think Sahib may be bored too, but I don't know what to do when we are gone or my grandma is gone for the morning and I'm still asleep. It seems Sundays bring out the worst. It's a dread for me to come down to see what state the kitchen is left.
Anyways I vacuumed up the shards. I'm concerned and hope he didn't swallow any when he bit into the waffles.
I'll see if he is into playing right now. His favorite game is "catch and fetch" I throw a small object and he fetches it. (sometimes drops it in my hand!)
About the trash...if she was a stray she is still in survival mode. Try different types of foods, or free feeding for a while to help avoid the survival instinct of finding food.
I have had many cats that tip over water glasses, love the dripping sink, or tub even a fresh flushed toilet. Basically cats like and need FRESH water. My cats prefer the dripping sink, It is always cold and fresh. I had adopted a stray with the problem of dragging the water dish across the floor then licking her paw. Try leaving the toilet open a a faucet dripping in a sink or the tub. Show the kitty the new source for water and this may help solve the problem. I hope this helps. If you don't want the cat on the counters, go with the tub or toilet option. They also sell kitty fountains at most pet retailers.
Good Luck! mamashu
Sorry for the bad typing. Normally I ms word check, but I'm really upset with this problem and typed this up in a rush. I should have asked for help sooner before this happened, but I thought if we just don't leave food or water out or make sure we put it in heavy containers, that would keep the cat from knocking things over onto the floor. It seems simple enough, right? It isn't proving to be...
We also have to hide the kitchin garbage.
