Cat bump

Hi.

Tonight as I was petting my male cat (4 years old and fixed) and his behind smelled. He is a long haired cat so I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something stuck in his hair. I discovered, right below his anus, a very mushy bump which when touched, he shakes a bit (almost like it either irritates or it excites him) and then he moves quickly away.

My question/worry is what could this possibly be? I have never noticed this before on him.

Thank you.

It seems like skin. And whenever I touch it, his tail just goes ballistic. But he doesn't make any noise as if in pain.
