New kitty w/diarrhea

We found a stray kitten beside a busy road 2 nights ago, so small and frail.  The next day (yesterday) we took it to the vet.  Fortunately he's neg. for feline aids/leuk.  He was given a shot and worm medication.  We then put out both wet and dry kitten food, just hoping it would eat something.  He has eaten some of both, but def. more wet than dry.  He will drink some water too, but does not play whatsoever, and sleeps a lot. The vet thinks he's around 11-12 weeks old.  The concern has been that the poor baby has terrible diarrhea, numerous times today and several times last night, and of course the vet is closed.  
The stool is orange color, much like the wet food, and stinks worse than anything you could imagine.  You can sometimes hear the babies tummy grumbling while pooping.  From what I've read it could be the new medicine, the new food and of course the shock from all of this, and the poor thing wasn't in great shape to start with. I haven't let him out of my sight.   I would love some advice on where to go from here.  My heart goes out to this angel.  He hasn't had a great life so far....would love to change that!

I would say your Son has got to be very special with a Mother like you. So I am sure Samson will be a happy little man. His life is now fixed, and yes that is because you saved that little guys life!!!

I raise a glass to you, your husband, and son for being among the many incredibly kind and wonderful Humans we have on this forum. There will be a special place for those with this profound act of kindness toward the helpless.

Gracey Bear is a real Beauty also--they make a very handsome couple! Too bad you can't breed them and get your very own "Sammy Bear", LOL!

I will try to get more pictures soon.  The camera on my phone isn't that good, and he doesn't sit still long, unless sleeping!  He is such a sweetie!  The sad news is my son is ready for Samson to go to his house and join him and his 2 cats, as his permanent home.

Mom is NOT READY.  I will miss seeing this one everyday, but as son was the one who spotting him first and rescued him, he had dibs on him, and I can't blame him for wanting to keep him, he is that special!!.   I'm not sure how I'm going to get my Samson fix now, will have to set up visitation or something!  Maybe I can get him every other weekend...?   I'm so attached to that little man.   I know he will have a great home with my son, he is the most loving, sweetest person you could ever meet.   He has adopted more needy animals than anyone I know, and then found them good homes.

During his school years,  he worked at a deli right next to Petco, and anyone that showed up there with an animal that couldn't be adopted, or they said it was going to the pound, it ended up at our house.   Several times I would find new dogs in the fenced backyard, and I knew instantly where they came from and who was responsible.

Samson however is staying with him, not being re-homed!!   I made sure of that, or I would be the one keeping him myself!!   So it's really bittersweet that I share this with you.  Samson will be lucky to be with my son, but I will miss him so very, very much!   I feel so connected to this one.  I truly believed that we saved his life and he was meant to be with us. So Mom is rather sad......

I  will keep you updated...Samson is like my first grandchild!  Take care all you sweet people here, I will continue to check on all you!!

It's just an adorable photo I got off the Internet.  It looks like a real kitten but  with little angel wings photoshopped on.  I love it, too.  

I will friend you, then you can see my Jade.  Make sure to look at the older photos when she was looking healthier.  She has Numerous issues now, and isn't doing so well.  I hope and pray we will have her at least another yr, but I'm not counting on that.

The new pic of Samson is precious, just adorable.  He doesn't even resemble the same kitten...thank God.  You've done great mysampson.  Wonderful to hear your Pom is feeling better as well.  

And of course we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers, of course!!  I hope things resolves themselves soon.

Thank you all for the kind prayers and posts.  Both are doing just great.  Fortunately my pom was healthy enough to weather this rather well, all things considered.  We are almost finished with the medicine for her.  

Samson is just great, plays like crazy, purrs often, and still crawls up close to get warm and cuddle when he's finished running around. His poop is almost normal, so he seems to be adjusting to the food and all the other changes.  I will post another pic soon!  

God Bless all you sweet people here!  If you can spare extra prayers for Mom, I will take them.  I have a few other challenges that aren't resolving as fast as I'd like!!

You have rescued this little angel and given him a wonderful life. You are an awesome fur baby mom. Samson and your Pom are so blessed to have such a loving and knowledgeable mama. I just read through this thread then saw the new pics.  The first photo, omg.  And no, we don't want to know 'why' the rope, do we.  I don't want to even think about it.  

With your awesome TLC, Samson no longer looks frightened and worried like in the 2nd photo, but content and happy now.    

Bless you mysamson, for taking in this little one.  He couldn't of been found by a better pet parent.  I know I can speak for everyone here in that we will look forward to your updates on this precious baby.

OMG!!!! I could just cry at the thought of how much he needed YOU to find him and make his life a Fairy Tale. I envy you being able to spoil that little man, rotten.

The most resent picture is amazing! See what love can do---turn ugly little ducklings into beautiful Swans. He is going to be a heart breaker with the ladies. Thank you so much for being the wonderful, caring person you have been in saving this little homeless and helpless creature.

GOD--I just hate seeing that string around his neck---I don't want to even think about that.

Well you still deserve a big YAY!!!!!! You saved little Samsons life...and with the meds I am sure your beloved Pom will do just fine. Just a little longer......and they both will be out of the woods At least you know the medicine works.

Oh NO......I think my Pom has it.   Went home at lunch to check on my babies, (they are still seperated, as Samson has been quarantined since the Coccidia dx) and the Pom has bloody diarrhea.  Called the vet, getting more Albon.  They think this must be it, since there has not been any other changes (same residence, food, etc) only new addition is the baby Samson.  They were only together for about 5 days before Samson was diagnosed (didn't show up at the first vet exam) and then they were seperated. . Oh dear Lord, here we go again!   Prayers please!  Thanks!!

Thank you!  I return to say that I think we are out of the woods, and finally getting a real start at the good life!  Samson is still on meds for Coccidia for a few more days.  The big D is finally firming up, and starting to look more like ropes than just a big blob of mess.  Sorry for the desciption, not sure I have the words for it, and more importantly-  I don't think I've ever been so excited by something so gross!

He is filling out, and playing now, and loves to cuddle!  What a cutie.  I will try to upload pics again.  

Thank you all for praying!  I don't think this baby would have made it much longer on it's own......   God is good always!

AWWWW! Poor little guy! This is very common in kittens. It usually is spread in their feces from cat to Cat who share litter boxes.  I think your Pom should be ok since he would not come into contact with the oocysts in the feces. Still make sure his litter box is cleaned daily with boiling water and Lysol and watch for severe dehydration in one so young.

many kittens have this in their stools, but it only becomes a problem when they are under stress....and we sure know little Samson had some STRESS in his life.

Happy he has a diagnosis and hopefully the meds should work.
