I've lost my share of animals though the years but the majority had lived a long life. I think I felt especially bad about Bugga because he was only 8 years old. I have three more cats and one of them is really missing Bugga, he looks for him in all the rooms. Just makes me crazy I don't know what he is thinking.
Thanks much for all your well wishes and kind thoughts.
I like to think that my dad was met by my kitty Tunafish who became his kitty after I married and had to leave her behind. I also like to think that he was reunited with his dog, Scout, his boyhood companion.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I never been there yet - girls are my first cats in life.Just 4 years ago that I've got the best ever gift ...
But I do fell really bad for all folks and pets that have done it.
Bugga has new good buddies now somewhere.rip fellow!
Stacie...I am so very sorry for you and the pain you are now feeling, you did what you needed to for your dear baby Bugga...We know the pain, we've all been there. You loved your boy and did your very best by him, he knows that and he felt the love. Like Pip said he will live on forever in your heart, no one can ever take that away....
RIP little Bugga ♥
Bugga is asleep now and not in anymore pain.
I have tears in my eyes as I read this, which reminds me so much of our experience with our dear Kessie last year.
May Bugga have a gentle passing, he'll live forever in your heart as Kessie does in mine.
oh dear, I am so sorry to read this...yes I'm afraid your right, your sweet Bugga is telling you he's just plain had enough, he's not feeling well at all and has lost all interest in trying to eat...I heard a quote the other day that is so very painfully true of us kitty lovers..
"Hope is something you hold onto when you just can't bear to let go"
My fellow kitty loving friend, its time..its probably past time...don't let your little guy suffer any longer, saying a timely goodbye is the last loving thing we can do for our little critters. God bless you both, I am so very sorry♥
Update - not good. We took him back to the Vet a few days ago and he gave us some special food and meds to help him not throw up. The first night he drank water like crazy and I used a syringe to feed him hoping it would stimulate him to eat on his own. But, he continues to get worse and now he just sits in front of the water dish, sometime he just lays his chin in the water.
Tonight it was most difficult to feed him even with the syringe. The food is just falling out of his mouth. I believe it is time. I feel so bad he feels so bad.
hi there......just checking in on you to find out how little Bugga is doing? I sure hope he's started to eat a bit on his own and has seen some improvements...this is so hard watching these proud little critters when they are struggling...I am pulling hard for him♥
thanks to all for quick responses. The vet feels there is nothing more to be done. I just wanted to give him the best chance of survival. Thanks for the info opus. The feeding video person looks like me! I get everything set up and then get Bugga - I even warm his food hoping he would smell it to stimulate his appetite.
I know what I need to do but I'm going to try to feed him a few more days to see if there is any improvement.
I am very sorry to read abt Bugga. you have a very difficult decision to make and I know how hard that is...we all do.
like the other posters have said you have to take into account Bugga's quality of life right now, you are doing your best by trying to keep him eating...but he may be just too weak and ill to even want to anymore....I will send you some info on hepatic lipidosos...that maybe why he has declined so much since as you said he has not been eating well for awhile now, a combination of the lipidosos and the cancer both.

There comes a time when for their best interests its time to say goodbye....get your Vets opinion. You've given him lots of love and are trying so hard but maybe he's lost the will....bless you all. btw...
I'll send you info on how to assist feed via a dropper or syringe, it won't be much faster than what you are doing but perhaps easier...

Hi,
So sorry about Bugga. Ask your vet if there is anything else you can do to give him palliative care. You will know when the time comes to let him go. Maybe the appetite stimulant and some steroids. Good luck...hugs.
If you were to name the top five things Bugga has always liked to do, when he cannot do three out of the five, his quality of life is pretty much gone. At that point I would consider euthanasia. But in the meantime, call the vet, maybe something can be given to him that will stimulate his appetite.
