MRI Report -- what does it mean in simple English?
Hi, the MRI report stats the following:

Findings: There are a few scattered patchy partially confluent T2/FLAIR hyperintense foci within the deep and periventricular white matter bilaterally which are symmetric involving the frontal and parietal lobes.

Interpretation: Patchy scattered foci in the deep and periventricular white matter of the frontoparietal lobes may reflect sequelae of periventricular leukomalacia.

How bad is this?

Hi!
Scattered foci of increased T2/Flair signals indicate small vessel ischemic disease or changes of brain blood vessels. These changes are seen in multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's or Wilson's Disease, migraine headaches, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Since there is periventricular leukomalacia, there is already some brain injury and necrosis. Hence, it is necessary to immediately find the cause and see what can be down to slow down the progress. Take care!
