My daughter is 4 yrs old. She can be a sweet child. She is very bright and smart for her age and can carry a conversation with most adults. She has a very wide vocabulary. This Fall she has been going to Pre-K within the school system where we live. She seems to be doing fine within the classroom until the teacher tells her to do something that she does not want to do. Ex. (cleaning up from play or coming in from the playground). This is when she has full blown temper tantrums. She spits, she kicks, she takes off her shoes and throws them across the classroom. She has even assaulted the teacher and the teacher's assistant. She has kicked and hit both teachers. Today I had to leave my job to pick her up from the princepal's office and she was suspended for 2 days. She is only 4 years old and already has a blemish on her school record.I have 2 older children and I have never had this problem with my older children. She as been acting this way at home as well, and I thought that she may be going through a phase, but I see that this may not be the issue. I do not know what to do. She is so helpful and sweet, but if you tell her what to do and she does not want to do it, she explodes like a volcano and goes off the deep end. If you try to ignore her with her tantrum she just gets worse with it and becomes destructive. I have tried time out, taking away toys and fun treats, and yes even spankings and nothing seems to work. I am not sure if she is dealing with a transition problem of going to a bigger school environment instead of daycare or what. What else is there for me to do?
