Barbara

please could you assist me? My Grand daughter of 9 has a stable home and lots of love, yet she shows no real emotion. when ever she is asked anything she just replies "I don't know". She is doing well at school. we are really worried about her. When a family member was ill she never had any questions unlike her smaller brother who asked several questions. Her Dad worked away for a while, at the airport she was unemotional where the little brother shed tears. She is not badly behaved in any way, we just feel as if we are loosing her.

If you are concerned then get her evaluated.  It cant' hurt and might ease your concerns, but then again, she might just be less emotional and the brother more so.  Everyone is different.

I would have her evaluated by a child psychologist to determine what is going on. I don't feel this is normal and the sooner you intervene the better.  Has she always been like this, or has anything happened that may have triggered it?  I know it's worrisome, but she's young and any issues can be resolved with professional help.  I wish all of you the very best, and hope you get some answers quickly.  Take care.
