My 2 yr old wakes up 4 times a night.

We switched my 2 yr old daughter to a toddler bed 2 months ago because my wife is pregnant and can't lift her out of her crib anymore. She now wakes up 4 times per night and expects us to sit by her door until she falls asleep. When she was in her crib she slept through the night most of the time. Once in a while she would wake up and had to be consoled back to sleep. We can't put her back in her crib because I sometimes work late and can't help lifting her in and out of the crib. If we close her bed room door, she will cry for 4-5 hours until she falls asleep. Then she wakes up every 2 hours and expects us to sit by the door until she is asleep. Is there anything we can do to let her comfort herself to sleep?

I reread and I see she is in a toddler bed , same thing applies , your wife takes her back if she comes out , and let her cry you know she is okay .

You are sitting by the doorshe knows you are there until you can let her cry and not lift her in and out of the crib you may be stuck with it, you are sending her mixed messages when consistancy is always the key .Let her cry I know thats hard but it is the only way, it does stop after a few nights ,if you are consistant if you are not she will go on for a few years ..Good Luck
