3 yr old is confused emotionally?

hi i have a 3 1/2 yr old little girl, the problem is if you try to play a game with her she cry's or screams, If you yell at her or if she gets hurt she either does not respond or laughs, If you try to give er a cuddle she screams and slaps. Its like her emotions are backwards.
she is also becoming very aggressive, yesterday she tried to smother her little 22 month old sister then today she was grabbing her sisters neck trying to strangle her she also slaps and punches anyone and throws things at them too... if she doesn't get what shes asking for whether you have it or not she cracks it and goes into uncontrollable fits of crying and screaming. shes not very affectionate to people.
she continues to do things she gets into trouble for.... like ripping thing up pulling things out and other normal little kid things they get into she will get into trouble then as soon as you have turned away from her she will do it again.

she also self harms like hitting herself in the head and face tryes to rip her ears off and picks at her skin until it bleeds she also peels the top layer of her toenails off.
i am very worried about her and her little problems but have no idea what it could be or where to get her help...

The easiest place to start is your pediatrician, which will be covered by insurance.  You can describe your issues to them, and they can refer you to the proper agency to help you get testing for your little girl.  Once diagnosed, they'll send you in the right direction to get her some help.  Good luck!

Hi!  It sounds like your daughter has Sensory Integration Dysfunction.  In the U.S., a Developmental Pediatrician would evaluate this disorder, also treated by Occupational Therapists. You need to pursue this to get your daughter the help she needs.

Is there any chance she could have manganese toxicity, or other severe mineral imbalance?  I would get this checked out asap. If your doctor finds nothing, have a hair mineral analysis done through a nutritionist or homeopathic specialist.

Best Wishes,
Enzy

thank you for your reply, i have never heard of sensory integration dysfunction and think i might Google it to see if she fits it..... as for toxicity and minerals we have had 3 blood tests done all coming back fine except her abnormally large red blood cells tho a hair mineral analysis sounds like a good thing might try get one but as im in Australia im not sure if we do it here.... we are taking her to a new pediatrician.

Did your daughter's blood tests include vitamin B12 and folic acid? I think deficiencies in these cause large red blood cells.  Are you vegetarian? Even if she's getting these nutrients, maybe she's not absorbing them correctly. Does she have any digestive or bowel problems?
Definitely check out Sensory Integration Dysfunction, also known as sensory processing disorder.

yes b12 is fine and so is folic acid they searched really well into her blood she even had a chromosome test and there is nothing to tell us why her blood cells are so large there 94 in size while normally it would be 84, looked into sensory looks interesting but she does only fall in to some of these problems. still will ask the pedi what they think

So she has had DNA testing? There are some genetic disorders that cause large red blood cells, so it sounds like they are being thorough with testing.
Could she have gotten into any medications that might have caused it? Anti-seizure meds?

The only other thing I can think of is alcohol buildup in the brain, possibly caused by a blocked metabolic pathway, or liver problem.

I hope they find the answer soon!

Good! That's a step in the right direction. Check back with your doctor in a couple days, to be sure he makes that appointment in a timely manner!
There's also saliva testing that can reveal hidden allergies and other things that can affect behavior. Most docs here won't do it anymore, unless you have a good reason to ask for it, and they know how to interpret the test. I think this could be a valuable test for your daughter, if you can find a practitioner who will do it. A chiropractor did this for my son, and found allergies we didn't know he had, affecting his behavior. (The worst was soy).

Have a good weekend.
