4 1/4 year old boy stays with the food in his mounth and i have to tell him to chew and swalow

my 4 1/4 years old son has always had a problem eating when he was a baby i had to trick him to open his mouth so that i can give him the food. now i give him his food and he would put the food in his mouth but he does not chew he could stay there for a very long time with the food in his mouth, i eventually have to tell him to chew and swallow his food, then when he does eat the food he acts like he's gonna vomit. he does have an appetite cause he asks for food but he would still hold the food in his mouth. PLEASE HELP ME IM GOING NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps it is the texture of the food he is eating can you tell us what food you give to him ..?
