4 years old started having small incidence peeing his pants

my son is almost 4 years old. he was potty train around 3...around the age of 3.5 he started having small incidence of peeing just alittle bit in his pants....now it got to the point that everytime he comes to use the toilet his pants are already wet....so in 2-3days all of his 20 undies are in the laundry...i dont understand what is wrong, is there a bladder infection? if so, he would have fever and pain, right? or he is just forgetting to use the bathroom? Or he doesnt feel that he has to go until he goes in his pants???? or maybe he wants attention???He sometimes hides in the bathroom and changes his clothes after the incidence
He is the oldest (almost 4 yo)
has 2 sisters, 2,5 years old and 8 months old

i ask our family doc, she said "he is still learning", but i doubt (she is newly graduated doctor, and doesnt see kids much) ...he is definitely regressing

Help someone please!!!!

OWest comments are right on the mark.  That is the standard practice once a medical problem is ruled out.
It also sounds like your son is pretty sharp and feeling his age.  Its gonna be a interesting ride for awhile.  Boys of this age are a trip and a half.  Keep posting if you have any other questions.  Lots of us have been through this.

My son has been in daycare since he was 2 and is now in PK. As long as your kid is potty trained and out of diapers or pull ups...they are fine. The teachers understand that kids this young will pee on themselves occasionally....just pack an extra change of clothes (which they ask you to do anyway)

My son is 4 and has been potty trained since the age of 2. He's always been good with it, no bed wetting, he rarely had accidents. But a couple months ago he started having frequent accidents during the day or like you mentioned with your son, we'd go to the bathroom and his underwear would be wet. I talked to his doctor and he said up until the age of 8, it is normal for kids to have periods of regression.
I also noticed that my son was holding his pee and would do so until the last minute and by the time we'd get to the toilet...he'd already be dripping and doing the "pee pee dance". So instead of waiting for him to tell me that he had to use the bathroom, I randomly ask him ... or if I know that he's been drinking juice or water and he hasn't pottied I'll take him to the bathroom regardless if he says he doesn't have to (9 times out of 10 he goes). This has stopped the problem all together. HTH

You will have pain (which can make you not want to go), but no fever with a bladder infection.  A simple urine sample can answer that question.  I'm surprised she didn't ask for one due to this sudden onset.  I would ask for this to be done just to rule this out.  A visual inspection will almost work (the urine will appear cloudy).
Is he at home with you all the time, or is he is in some type of daycare.  Sometimes kids don't like to use the bathrooms at school for a variety of reasons, and then suffer the consequences.
