Does, the Concerta seem to work in the morning?
Do the main problems seem to start after lunch?
Thank you for your comment. I swear something is going on also my daughter was told she could not come in and spend some timei even threatened we buy a baby cam? My heart is so full of worry he is the most loving child, sure he has his 7yr old episodes. Iep has not said too much except he has missed a lot of days. There are times when my daughter will just keep him home but he gets so excited about going and then wam. When this happens they put him in someones office till they get a hold of mom. There even was a time they kept him till after 5as my daughter was out looking for some help. This matter is scary even the truant officer has talked to my daughter
His doctors need to know what is going on. It sounds like the Concerta is wearing off and he needs a higher dose. Also a high protein breakfast will help the medicine last longer.
And, of course, there could be something going on at lunch time that triggers this. Is it happening after lunch recess. It would really be a good idea to go to school and watch and see what is happening. Other kids could be teasing him into this kind of action. In fact, the more I think about it. You could be right. If the med is working for him in the morning then it also should be doing so in the after noon. It usually is good for 8 hours or so. And if what he is doing is very different then when he is not on the meds, then there is a good chance that it is something happening at school that is really getting him upset. Does he talk about this at all? I really think it would be a good idea to talk to the principal and then go and observe.
By the way, there should be something in his IEP that says they just can't send him home on a daily basis. It sounds like they are suspending him for the rest of the day, and most schools have a limit as to how often a child can be suspended. Plus, you usually can't do that to a child if it is because of one of the problems listed in his IEP.
