8 year old boy digging in anus.

Last night my husband found out my 8 year old son has been digging in his anus when in the bathroom. When my husband gently addressed the issue and asked why he does it he said because it tickles.  My husband was slightly concerned this may mean something about his sexual orientation.   Curious how else to approach this issue.

He more than likely has worms... but if he is exploring feelings then there's not much you can do.

This may seem crazy, but take a piece of clear tape and press it against his anus, don't wipe him first ( like you do to remove lint) take a look at it, it may be worms.  If so, you will possibly see tiny worms.  I have see this before.  It is very itchy.  There is medication for this, I dont remember the name.

I'd also guess pinworms, constipation (get some of those good fiber gummies that they sell at Rite Aid and give him one a day), or just early exploration of an area that has a lot of interesting nerves.  Agree with Sandman that his interest might shift around to the front soon enough.

Be sure there is a good nail brush in the bathroom and show him how to use it, and be sure that he keeps his nails short.

Lots of straight people get a kick out of having fingers in their anus at the time of ejaculation.

I doubt that it has anything to do with his sexual orientation.  My first thought was that he might have hemorrhoids or an irritation,  but I don't think that would necessarily tickle.  You might try providing the soft, moist wipes for use.  But, if he is just exploring, I would just make sure he washes his hands real well.  My guess, is that, he will move on to other areas.

I personal have had this problem with my daughter and I went to the doctors and they told me she had *ringworm* i think it was called it's just little worm-like creatures that effect your intestines I would go check it out and I received a medication (syrup type) to treat the whole family becuase the creatures lay eggs outside + in the anus when you *itch* you get the eggs on your hand and then if you touch elsewhere it can be passed on very simply . Good look

Get it checked.  Kids don't know how to say I have a rash, or my anus is irritated.

Pin worms. get him checked for pin worms. Spreads very easily. just call your pediatrician. Easily cured and at least worth ruling out. I really don't think it has a thing to do with sexual orientation. Kids get pin worms all the time. It itches the most at night when theyre laying their eggs. it gross but more common than you think :)
