Nervous eye blinking

I noticed that my 12 year old blinks more when she has to concentrate on what someone is saying or when she is explaining something. It can be something fun or serious, it doesn't matter. I made her aware of the problem and I let her know when she's doing it so that she can try "relaxing" her eyes. My question is: is it possible for her to control this behaviour? What can I do to prevent her from bringing this habbit into adulthood?

The strep my friend's daughter experienced had no symptoms.  She never ran a fever, but somehow it is in her blood.  I'm not saying this is the problem, just that you may wish to seek a thorough explanation quickly.  I'm glad you're getting her checked out.  Let me know how it goes.  Good luck and God bless.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice. I think if she had strep, however, her eyes might be red or she might be blinking all the time. I'm still going to check it out though.

I wouldn't assume that this is merely a habit.  It could be a real neurological problem.  My friend's daughter started having a "tic" like this and they found out she had strep in her blood.  I would make an appointment TODAY to get to the bottom of this.
Good luck and God Bless
