Have you tried talking to your son to see if something might be bothering him? A lot of times bed wetting is a sign of nervousness, stress, anxiety.

I have tried ignoring it and he did wet less often. However he never stopped the behavior. We went to the doctor today and he was prescribed medication. I will try this for the next for weeks and see how that goes. If it does not work then I will look into the service that musicmama suggested.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I think I found the company.  Look up www.enuresiscontrolclinic.com  This is not a product, it is a service.  They guarantee success.  My son was given a metal screen that was battery powered.  He had to keep a pillow case over it, and sleep bottomless.  He was told to drink at least 16 ounces of water before bed.  We were also told to keep a record of his success and was given feedback.  It seemed like very little compared to the price we paid, but it worked.  Somehow it conditioned him to get out of his deep sleep.  Most people go through 3 levels of REM sleep, (A, B, C, A, B, C etc.)  Many bedwetters drop to the deepest level, and can't wake up when they have the sensation to urinate. (CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC).  Let me know how it work!
Good luck and God bless.

sounds like it not in his hands so i would defiantely not punish him. talk to your doctor and see if its also some kind of bladder control problem. there must be something for this. i have an idea but it might sound weird at first. for some odd reason, a few years ago, i would wake myself up with a hmm sound that i made myself. every few minutes. a short hmm. kind of like a moaning sound. i kept telling everyone and it was all in my head. once i stopped carying about it , i stopped doing it. even though this is a bigger problem and it needs some kind of help, do you think that maybe because your son is being told about it so much that he subconscously does it now because he knows that he will. if that makes sense. maybe if its ignored for a month completely, then it might get less. try that. if he wets it, who cleans it up in the middle of the night. if you do, then go in there and clean it up but talk about something else like yorue not noticing it. i know it sounds crazy, but trying somethign wont hurt. good luck.

Is your son a peaceful sleeper?  Bedwetting can be a sleep disorder.  We were very successful with a bedwetting program (quite expensive but we could pay it out ) in about a month, it was no longer an issue.  I don't recall the name of the program, but look it up on the internet.  If you can't find anything, leave me a message and I will do a little research for you.
Good luck and God bless.
