Son

My 7 year old son forgot his homework book at school. The next day he came back with my forged signature, fortunately for him we had done the homework the day before he forgot the book. When i asked him why he did that he said he did not want to get into trouble with his teacher. Should i tell the teacher, how do i deal with this. I am a single parent and he does not see his dad, they speak on the occassionally.

When I was in fourth grade I was unjustly accused by my teacher of forging my mother's name. It was obvious from her attitude that this sort of thing happened all the time and was not surprising. Of course I was mad. Injustice is very hard on kids.

@ Margeypops, he says he likes his teacher and he has not reported anything funny about her. I was thinking maybe he does not wanna dissapoint her.
@ Allymymarbles, i talked to him, i think i was rather harsh.

Forging a parent's signature can be classed as a common childhood "crime." There is usually no second offense. Chew him out about it, but don't get all bent out of shape.

And, no, do not rat him out to his teacher.

Well I would say no dont tell the teacher, as hes only done this once , have a good talk to him and make sure he knows that he cannot forge your signature again, It surprises me a 7 year old would do it.How does he get on with this teacher are there any issues , I am puzzled why he would be afraid especially at this age ..
