sudden fear

Hi, im 29. My Girlfriend and her Daughter (be 3 in july) live with me and have since july 2013, the daughter and i have a great relationship. she does typical things most kids do, she's always said so and so hit her, when no one has, she's said it about me, about her mother about her father. my girlfriend and her childs father have a cordial relationship, it isnt a bad situation at all. the other night the baby woke up screaming crying and was terrified of me, did not want me around, her mother asked her if she had a bad dream and she said yes but said "john hurt me" (name change obv) we were stunned. i left the room, not in anger but to give her sometime and went to the couch, about an hour later she came out to me asking for a pop, we had played that whole afternoon. instead fo a pop she laid on me on the couch for an hour and woke up crying and scared, took my pillow an dwent back to her mother in the bedroom. i honestly have no idea what to think, ive never even raised my voice to her, i understood my GF asking me if anything has ever happened, she's her mother, its her job to ask. i told her absoluetly not, i love the little girl as my own and would never hurt her. a few weeks ago, while putting her in her car seat, i accidentily pinched her leg, complete accident and ive put her in her seat more then a hundred times, only time it happened. i cant think of any other reason she'd be scared. can anyone help or explain? thanks

Hi there.  Yes, she was getting sick. I would try to see how she responds in the next week or two.  She did come right out and lay with you and was relaxed enough to fall asleep.

It's one of those things in which I understand how you must feel.  False accusations can happen and this can put you at jeopardy if someone runs with it like her bio dad or something.  Be mindful and careful.

But this could just be due to her not feeling well and dreaming.  See how she acts without mentioning anything about this to her.  good luck

please ignore the last bit of that, had to toggle back to a work screen. could the fever have caused the night terror/being afraid of me? it really shook me, i honestly had no idea what to think.
