Five year old displaying some what violent behavior

Dear doctor,
I have a 5 year old son, he is very loving and affectionate with every one including his 6 month old brother always wanting to help and giving him kisses and hugs every chance he gets.  he loves super hereos batman spiderman wolverine ect so naturally he walks around most of the time convinced he is a ninja hiding behind things fighting with pillows and what not . with that being said the other day in the car he said to me i could kill all the baby's and immidiatley i was panicked by the statement, and i explained to him that , that kind of behavior is wrong and saying things like that are very very wrong and reminded him his little brother is a baby and he began to cry saying he could never hurt his brother, saying he was sorry. should i be concerned ?  because honestly the statement really scared me

That's brilliant.

Hope this will make your lad feel more secure and loved.
How he feels is not always the same as we as adults think they feel.

Best wishes.

When there is a new baby with an older sibling, the older sibling can feel very much unloved and left out.  Where he had his parents all to himself, he now has to share that and baby comes first.  It is therefore important to give some time just to the older child.

Make sure you give him some of your quality time to just him and give him lots of cuddles and tell him that you love him.
