My 4 year old started risperdal on 28 May for the conditions are above.  Will she take it forever or is it a lifetime treatment

Just curious - who diagnosed Risperidone?  And why?  I was under the impression that Risperidonel was not be used for children under the age of 11 (although I have heard of it being used to treat severely autistic children and also schizophrenia, bi-polar and other related psychotic disorders).

I suppose whether your child will be on this medication for the rest of her life will depend upon her diagnosis - whether the mental health issue is a life-long problem or just a short-term one.

Hi its my first time here I'm not sure how to reply.  My daughter was seen by a child psychiatrist at Townhill Hospital Pietermaritzburg. She prescribed risperdal 0.5 mg.  She is taking it and I was wondering for how long.  I have also ordered calmavit from adhasa today. I am scared of drugs though I don't know much about them

I bought calmavit for my daughter.  They say one capsule per day is okay but 6 capsules per day will provide 100% RDA of most vitamins.  I'm thinking of giving her three capsules daily.  One in the morning, one noon and one at night.  Has anybody used it?  Were there any improvements?  If yes, after how long

Neuroleptics (anti psychotics) work by producing largely if not entirely irreversible brain damage and that is a scientific fact.

Read "Mad in America" by Robert Whitaker and Blaming the brain by Elliot Valenstein.
