2 1/2 month old tracking---please HELP

Hi,

So I have a 10 week old (born a week early), my third child. I am very concerned.  She does give us eye contact but she does not track objects up close.  Also, a friend's big dogs tried jumping on her, and she didn't even flinch.  It freaked me out.  She does track the mobile over her crib.  She does smile but not much.  Sleeps a lot.  She is growing and eating well.  She also coos.  Aren't they supposed to be tracking at this age? is this an early sign of developmental delay?  Please advise

I agree with Rockrose.  It takes awhile for their eyes to focus.  And even then, they won't follow cause once something is out of there focus, they forget it even was there.   But, it is always good to have a good communication with your doctor - so give a call.  I imagine even a nurse could give you more info, as they have plenty of experience with this.

This article says "at five months,  your baby is getting better at spotting and tracking objects".

Sounds like 10 weeks is a little young to expect her to be really good at tracking.
