Sleeping issues :(

Im 16, i live in the uk.

But i have major sleep problems, i have tried the strict routing things for weeks and it did not work.

Basicaly i go to bed at 11, but i physicly cant sleep the room is pitch black apart from my alarm clock (if there is a light in a room i feel odd and cant sleep) so i just lye there trying to sleep but i generaly do not sleep till 3/4/5! which is insain, its making me late for school and my gcse's are sooo soon,

i excersise alot, i cycle to school walk my dog and go to the gym every day so i no its not that.

i am also very strikt with my diet, i have no breakfast a oat bar at break, a sandwich at lunch, a bag of crisps when i get home, then i have a either a cooked meal if its cold but if its hot i have a pitta with salad cheese and houmouse. so im sure its not my diet.

I do not sleep thorugh the day either, i think it may be because my mind is over acting or something? when i try to sleep i try to think of a field and thats it but all of a sudden i will realise i was thinking about something completly different like something realy random, maybey something that happened or something that else. it has nothing relating to my sexualty as my mum no's im gay and my school is very accepting infact i have more m8s since i came out then ever :S

But the only thing that ever has worked worked for me is a repeated load music in my headphones i tend to sleep in arround 2hours when i have my music on.

Any sugestions?

I'll tell you what works for me and my son.

I had terrible times sleeping as a child, and so did my son.

As an adult, I turned on the TV to put myself to sleep -- instead of lying there for hours, its just enough distraction for me to go to sleep.

My son NEVER slept through the night, and would not go to bed at night, and just had an AWFUL time of it until he was 2-- when we turned the TV on. Now, whatever else might be going on, my son NEVER gives me ANY trouble about going to bed, and is never awake for more than 15 minutes after lying down.

Now-- this is completely contrary to what every dr ever told me to do about sleep-- and I don't care, because I get plenty of rest and so does my son.

For some, listening to music has the same effect.

Your getting real close to your gcse's. Stress is quite normal at this point and as a result your sleep pattern is gonna be all over the place.
Listening to your music might be taking your mind off your exams long enough for you to get some sleep.
