Desperate for answers.

Howdy, my 11 year old son makes a multitude of peculiar sounds ranging from a soft high pitched "hmm" to a deep growl in his throat and all sounds in between, he has been continually making these noises for many years now and they are just increasing in intensity. He is completely unable to stop. Tourette's? OCD? Autism? Or just bad habits, I do not know. It's driving me up the wall!!  It seems that no one I approach about the subject has any definitive answers. Open to suggestions/ remedies/ anything... Help.

You might want to have these behaviors checked out by his pediatrician.  These behaviors can be caused by a variety of different mental health issues especially if he is unable to control it.  The only one that could accurately rule out medical or emotional issues is his pediatrician.

Whom have you approached?  His pediatrician has no idea where to send you for diagnosis?  Bad habits sound unlikely as I'm sure this interferes with school and his peer relationships.

my son has a vocal tic and it is not constant----  related to anxiety and his sensory issues.  Working on the anxiety and sensory issues makes the tic much less frequent.

What kind of doctors have you seen?  Any other issues you notice?
