Tic - Chronic Throat Clearing

Our son has had chronic throat clearing that is getting worse.  When he is active in sports he gets terrible coughs.  When sleeping at night the symptoms totally go away.  Lately the chronic throat clearing is almost non-stop during the day.  We've tried seeing an ENT, Allergist and Neurologist, but have not found an answer yet.  Has anyone tried medication for a possible tick that is causing this?

Some allergy maybe that they havent thought of, sometimes in the winter cental heating can cause a cough as the air gets dry, a humidifier may help .
