I have a toddler in my daycare who is exhibiting odd behavior at his home. According to his mother, the behavior only occurs with women or girls. he points his finger and demands they go to their room, lay down on the bed, and put their head down. Then he gets on top of them and holds their face in his hands and passionately kisses them. He has exhibited this behavior with women: his mother, grandmother, auntie, two neighborhood teen girls, and a doll. He has never exhibited this behavior at daycare. The mother wanted to know where he learned the behavior but because he doesn't do that at daycare I wasn't aware of the behavior. I am a school counselor and I told her that children will mimic what they see on tv or at home and that she shouldn't be too concerned. However, because he has done the behavior with neighborhood girls, I am a bit more concerned. When he is at daycare, he is a normal, happy boy with normal toddler behaviors such as not sharing and pushing. I am curious as to why he will do the behavior at home but not at daycare? Also, why he does the behavior only with women and not men? I appreciate any advice or ideas. Thank you.
