Thanks for your advise I will most certainly speak to my daughter and ask her to ask the pediatrician to be referred to a  developmental specialist.

Thanks again

Hello,  I would say at this point you need to encourage your child to take this little one to a developmental specialist.  All kids develop at their own pace but there are things that would concern me here.  He sounds as if there is a delay with speech.  Eating issues go hand and hand with this as lots of motor control is involved in chewing and speaking.  Textures which are part of sensory integration can also cause great feeding difficulty with a child.

As far as pinching and head banging, kids do have trouble handling frustration especially if there is a speech delay.  However, some kids also have low sensation of pain/ feeling ( again, sensory related) and do this to get any input they can to the nervous system.

So, I would most definately go to his pediatrician and ask for a developmental evaluation.  There are specialists who do this and occupational therapists as well.  A speech evaluation would be either included or its own evaluation.  They can do amazing things with early intervention and actually change the course of a child's life.  Good luck.
