There is a whole Autism forum at medhelp. I would think that this is a common occurrence, and they should have some ideas. The link is here -

Best wishes!
He must be bored all day long then. I hope that is not it. Who can contstantly play with their kids all day? Autistic kids aren't like regular kids. I can just give him a coloring book and crayons and say "Here color" My son doesn't like books. He will only look at the pictures for 2 or three minutes before leaving. Pictures is a goal we are working on{ looking at them and pointing as we name them). Thanks for the advice though. I am glad someone is trying to help.
Do you read him stories, I know children love to be read to, it is possible its his way of gaining attention, could he be bored ?
Before you can stop it you have to find the cause of it, maybe you should ask his doctor is he on meds ? Is anyone working with him on the speech disorder?Distraction may work have you tried starting a game up when he begins to show signs of a tantrum, perhaps some music on or some activity ,in my opinion whether he has autism or not there will be a reason for his behavior.
My son has autsim. I don't know why he screams. They seems happy mostly, then he has bad screams and tantrums. I want to know why or at least what can I do to stop this?
You say he is non verbal could you explain further , sounds like he is frustrated and trying to communicate is he getting help with his speech disorder?
