crying at musical dancing classes

Hi, our 4 yr old daughter is attending preschool -we live in Russia and she speaks both russian and english (my husband is american, I am russian ) She just recently has developed this fear I guess- started to cry at a performance that kids do for their parents at school-1st time it happened at FALL performance-then at Xmas performance-i had to take her and she sat with me and my 1 yr old son among the rest of us in the audience! After Xmas break I took her to school and she started to cry during her dancing class and she wanted me to stay around and I did- and today during her musical class she wanted me to stay again! As soon as she saw me leaving when the class started and they closed the door i could hear her scream! We tried to talk nicely to her before! But frankly its also frustrating when it happens right there and the teachers are not happy she is interruprting the whole class! I feel distraught! Whats going on all of a sudden-the teacher says it never happened before! Has anyone had this kinda problem?? pls share

Can you stay and watch the classes?  Does your daughter get to see you much?

It sounds as if your child is suffering from anxiety.  SeriousSam had a good suggestion - can you stay with her and watch the classes?  This method is called "intervention" and what is does is lessen your daughter's fears and gives her a "safe" person upon whom to rely.  When she is more comfortable, I expect she will ask you to leave as she is "big" enough to go to dance class alone.  But, this could take months or even years in some cases.
