I don't know his background, but often children who have bowel problems tend to pass large and painful stool.  Because it hurts, they will try to hold it to avoid the pain.  During this process often stool just leaks out.  He cannot control the leakage.  It may be that whatever he is taking to make him go to the bathroom is too strong now, and he finds it difficult to hold it.  He's at an age when this bercomes very embarrassing for him, so I don't seem him doing this on purpose.  Also, he may have some impaction which cause the stool to pass in liquid form and just "drain" out without him knowing until it's too late.  I think I would take him to see a pediatric gastroenterologist for an evaluation, now that he is older they may need to reduce the amount of whatever it is they have been giving him because kids do tend to grow out of this.  Take care.
