my 9 year old son says his brain talks to him

I hope this is the right place for this question.  I have a 9 year old that is slow in his mental development.  He is in a special education program at school and at the end of 1st and begining of 2nd grade level.  He gets frustrated very easily and isn't able to express his anger and emotion.  Usually he just throws a trantrum, destroys the class room and goes on about his day.  Today however he stated to the teacher, the psychologist, and my husband and I that he wanted to stab himself because his brain told him to.  He continued to tell my husband and I that when he was 7 his brain told him to stab himself in the leg.  Unfortunately he wasn't with us when he was 7 so we don't know if this is true or not.  He also said that he was sitting in class doing his work and his brain told his eyes that the earth blew up, then he shook his head and woke up.  He said he wasn't sleeping.  We are very concerned that he may really want to hurt himself, or his siblings.  Is there something that you can tell us to do?

Poor guy and poor you.  I am sure you are worried.  Is he on any medications?  If he is and seeing  a psychiatrist I would talk to them about it.  If not I would consult a child psychiatrist just to see what they think.

His tantrums must be pretty bad if they destroy the classroom. Does he do this at home too?
