I am presently a foster parent for a seven year boy who repeated smears feces here at my home, his school, or anyplace that he is visiting. I have had him clean it up and have discussed with him that it is a health hazard for himself and others. I have asked him to try to stop when the thought comes in his head. He shows no remorse. He just stares at me, he does admit that he did it.
this young man is polite, appears happy when with other children, knows all the correct social cues, but in a blink of an eye, he is smearing, or he will hurt a smaller child with a punch or pinch. When confronted, again, no remorse, just a blank stare.
He does have a diagnosis of language impairment within the Autism Spectrum--high functioning.
He is presently taking Concerta every morning and Respidol in the evenings.
I would just like to know what I can do to help erase the behavior of smearing without further damaging the child. I want to keep his dignity in tack and help him respectfully.
I thank you for your time in responding.
Nana
