bad behavior

me and my husband recently seperated and we have 4 children together,he moved out and it has been very hard on all of us,but we were not getting along at all and seem to be fighting in front of the kids all the time. my 4 year old has realy started acting up,refusing to do what i ask of her, this is such a big change in her but she also started preschool this year and one of our beloved dogs died and this has all happen around the same time...can you please give me advise on how to handle this,my husband says you just have to comfort her but he realy don't have a clue..he lives one town over and the kids are with me most all of the time which is fine i would not realy want it any other way,i love being with my children but i do not enjoy being around my 4 year old while she is acting this way and neither does the other kids,my 2 year old cries when she does this it scares her to death.please help me and give me some advice????

You have all been through a lot of Trauma with the seperation, are you sure it wont work sometimes it is not to late you could get counseling for the fighting ,It is always good for Families to stay together if they can have you really worked on it?You daughter is sensitive and this has been very hard on her and the others, along with a dear pet passing ,and a new school it is not surprising she is acting up.If she is close to her Dad make sure she sees a lot of him, Dads are very important in their childrens lives and even if you dont live with him ,it would be the best thing for them to see him regularly,by comfort I think he also means attention and he is correct ,lots of positive attention for her and one to one time, get her involved in outside activities and sports keep her busy, when you ask her to do something give her the reason and ask her more than tell her, win over her co-operation.Most times all children neeed is care and love and they thrive, Good Luck
