Baby food and formula casuing gas, still at 1year

I posted this same question in June when my baby was five months old. She is now one year and is having all the same issues. She can only tolerate oatmeal, carrots, squash, bananas, sometimes green beans and apples. We have her on Soy formula. She get extreme gas pain and it seems to be getting worse, she does not sleep through the night anymore. Again my concern is still the same as in June and that the severe gas may indicates a problem.  She has a bowel movement usually once a day. Is she constipated, could we be dealing with reflux still? The crying is inconsolable, writhing pain until the gas has passed.

Suggest having her checked by her Doctor to see if it is reflux or not. In the meantime suggest not giving her bananas or applesauce because they do constipate.

Hi there,

My baby had pretty bad gas in his first few months as well.  I tried a product called Bio Gaia, it is a probiotic drop that you give to them that helps with digestion.  This really seems to help him!  It is fairly expensive (30 CAN Dollars) but you use 4 drops a day in their bottle or food (I put it in his fruit in the morning at breakfast) and it seems to have worked! I also use Gripe water on occassion to help break up gas bubbles.  This is just what I have tried myself.
Good luck and I hope you find your answers!
