Hello, I have a 2-1/2 year old son who hasn't eaten since he was 6 months old. I have had him to a paediatric dietician and tried the things that were suggested to me with no luck. He would eat 2-3 jars of baby food at a sitting when he was 6 months old. Then one day when I was trying to feed him, he clamped his mouth shut, turned his head and it has been a struggle ever since. He will occasionally eat crackers or chicken nuggets, but he won't even bite the nugget, he just holds it in his hands and mauls it around in his mouth until is gets soggy and then he doesn't want it anymore. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of and he still refuses to eat. He talks about food and as soon as he mentions it, I give it to him and he just holds it, he won't even put it near his mouth. When he does it something like rice cakes, he will only have a bite and then wants another one. It is like he has a phobia of textures or something...I have no idea what to do. When he was born he was 10lbs, 1 oz, and was always in the high percentiles until he was a year old. Now he is in the 25th for weight. He is skinny but has alot of energy and seems happy. Would a child psychologist be able to help or where should I turn? What should I do? He is still on his formula and I have tried taking that away to get him hungry enough to eat but he refuses. He needs some kind of nutrients, I am scared. I am also tired of people telling me "my child only ate weiners (or whatever) until he was 3"...my child doesn't eat ANYTHING!!!!!! Please, I need some suggestions, I don't know what to do.
