ok. the word that got bleeped out there must be a 'no no' here. let's try "finger blood test". how's that? :P
My daughter was very petite also (-5 percentile). She would litterally gain only 1 pound every 3 months, despite everything I did...and I did everything, including tears of fear. Her pediatrician didn't take it seriously because there are many petite people in our family. But, as a mother, something just felt wrong to me.
Turned out she had iron deficiency (she was anemic). A little finger ***** at the pediatricians office can rule that in or out for you. Once she had that ***** and had been on an iron suplement for 2 weeks, her weight was at a steady increase. She has a very high metabolism, so she is still lean, but she gained weight and height steadily after that. She's now been in the 30th percentile for over 2 years. If you can't aford the *****, you can make sure her baby vitamin has iron (many don't).
I need to ask you a few questions in order to answer your question properly. What is her height? What type of formula is she drinking and snacks are you giving her? When you state she is eating 3 meals a day, what foods consist of each meal? Thank you
