Will this combo treat chlamydia??

For the past 2 weeks ive had some problems down below. Ive had to pee very frequently, i wake up about ever 1 1/2 hours to pee in the middle of the night. When i pee i have a very weak flow it trickles out. After im done peeing and zip up, i notice a little more continues to dribble out. Ive never noticed a discharge of any kind, or a burning. I went to the doctors and told them my problems and they said it sounds like chlamydia or gonorrhea. I told them i thought it might be prostatis but they were convinced its an std so now im paranoid.

They prescribed my 10 days of Cipro 500mg twice a day. When i came home and got online i read that cipro is ineffective against treating chlamydia. Ive took 7 days worth so far and none of my symptoms have got better. From what ive read i heard that Doxycycline is the best drug to take. I have 5 days worth of doxycycline left over from a ear inffection thats still good. If i take this, would that be enough to get rid of any problem i could have. I know i read that it takes 7 days of doxy, but i only have 5 days, 100mg twice a day.  Im hoping that since ive already taken a week of cipro that if i take 5 days of doxy it will be enough to get rid of the problem if it is chlamydia. They wont have the results back for 3 weeks they said and i dont want to sit around and worry and let it get worse.

were you actually tested or did they just tell you that it sounded like one of those two stds? you really should have requested a test. chlamydia and gono may cause a frequent need to urinate but it doesn't cause a weak flow, this could be anything and we can't tell you if you had it or what you do have. I can tell you that the meds perscribed aren't the best for chlamydia and you should speak to your doctor about that, don't start self treating. If you were treated for gono then they would have given you a shot while you were there since gono has become very resistant to many drugs.

If your symptoms persist return to your doctor or a urologist.

they did a swab test yes, but its going to be 3 weeks till i get the results. They said they were goign to go ahead and treat me for chlamydia and gonorrhea and gave me cipro, but from what ive read cipro doesnt do anything for it so i took a week of it and now im going to take 5 days of doxy it wont hurt anything to do this till i get my results back in 3 weeks from the swab, was just wondering if that combo would be enough to get rid of anything if i did have it

you would need to take the correct dose for each for the correct amount of days for it to work for both, this is not something we advise on because it is not recommended by any doctor to just treat yourself. you need to check with your doctor regarding the dosage you are taking and what the recommended amount it for both. and if you stopped taking the cipro before you were suppose to and if you had gonorrhea than you've messed with the curing of the gonorrehea... and let me make this Clear, gono is difficult to treat now adays. it is very resistant, so you stopping the medication may interfer with curing the gono. Cipro is for gono and zithro or doxy is for chlamydia, now talk to your doctor.

i never had any dischrage or burning down below so im pretty sure gonno is out of the picture, ive had prostate problems before and i wanted them to check it but they said they wanted to do a std test first and like i said im waiting 3 weeks for the results on that. I took the weeks worth of cipro incase it was gonno and im taking 5 days worth of doxy the recommeded dosage for chlamydia incase it is, but i dont think its ethier, i just think its prostatis. but with the dosage i took above and im taking if i had ethier it should be well enough to knock out both if i did have ethier or.

got my test back and everything was negative
