Hives started 2 days after flu shot.....

I got my flu shot at work on Thursday afternoon.  On Saturday evening, my inside left wrist started itching.  By the end of the night I had hives on my thighs, behind my knee, on my hips, abdomen and several welts in various spots.  As long as I take Benadryl 50 mg & hydrocortisone 20 mg tablet (that I had from a previous illness), I keep the hives away for several hours...However they have come back worse than ever but migrate all over my body in varying degrees of severity.  Has anyone had an allergic reaction to the flu shot start that far out after getting the shot?  Everything you read says it will start right away if you are allergic.  However, I have changed nothing in my diet or my detergents, etc.  If I just know that anyone else has been having this that started that far out, it will convince me more that this is the problem.  I would appreciate any help!  Thank you!

FYI, this years flu shot contains the H1N1/swine flu from 2009.
I have noticed a few other posts regarding this years flu shot and reactions......

(article below)

This year the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) gives clear guidelines that everyone aged 6 months and older should get the influenza vaccine.

This month the American Academy of Pediatric recommends that all healthcare providers should be required to get the influenza vaccine.

And one fact that hasn't gotten much attention is whether the 2009 H1N1 virus is included in the 2010 - 2011 vaccine?

Yes it is. This year's vaccine will be as safe as vaccines in past years as the production process is unchanged. Inclusion of the 2009 H1N1 virus will not be a problem.

Hi Marta,

From what you've shared, I interpret the flu-shot as being quite relevant to the hives, and it doesn't need to start right away.
If you think the dietary changes has caused the reactions, you can eliminate the newest additions until you've made sure it's not the flu-shot causing it.

I think you should call your doctor and tell what's happened - date and time and when you got the flu shot.
