Sinusitis?

I have had a cold for about a week and I thought it was getting better but a couple days ago I noticed a weird smell in my nose and it is all I can smell and then along with it a weird taste in my mouth and it is making any food taste bad.  Brushing my teeth all day long won't get rid of the bad taste and if I smell something else like a candle or air freshener the bad smell will go away momentarily but then it comes back.  I am really not feeling all the great and woke up a bit nautious this morning.  My sister told me she had similiar symptoms, the bad taste and smell, and she went to the doctor and was told she had a sinus infection.  My doctor is on vacation for two weeks and the doctor they have on-call I don't care for.  I really don't think it is nothing serious but I was wondering if anyone else recognizes these symptoms and is it possibly a sinus infection?  I am so sick of this smell and bad taste!  Thanks!
