gaseaous mucus and venting from stomach

4 mos ago Iad a still-unexplained attack of hives, and same time to have a feeling of obstruction in my throat. Hives disappeared, but felt as though there was gas in my chest I couldn't get rid of.  Drinking warm liquids helped temporarily: suddenly I would be able to belch -- felt like BBs coming out of esophagus.  One day I regurgitated under this pressure, and spit out about 2 tbsp of dense white foam:  no acid taste, no food, no smell -- just foam. Saliva is also full of bubbles; twice even vented gas bubbles from eurethra. Barium Swallow test: found no indication stomach or esophagus abnormality,no hiatal hernia, no indication reflux.  Thyroid ultrasound showed only normal polyps. Blood panel normal.  Then Sudafed for post nasal drip helped clear the foam by reducing mucus production: made clear that something is being generated IN my stomach or intestinal tract and venting upward (never down):  still steadily venting gas (?) under pressure orally.  FYI: NOT breath being pressed out of my lungs by extra internal pressure: can exhale completely, keeping mouth shut and not inhaling: within a few seconds there will be tasteless pressure up my throat and into my mouth that literally pops my lips open, & feeling of pressure in thorax/chest region diminishing.  Doctor currently has me trying a PPI on assumption this all is somehow acid reflux anyway ...  I am not seeing any good change at all.  Whatever this is has no taste & no smell; can trigger regurgitation of foam or sometimes residue from upper stomach, but is not vomiting and usually doesn't include any food at all.  Regularly in regurgitated foam or mucus a scatter of small mushy particles light tannish pink in color --- even when haven't eaten solid material for hours or days (often warm latte chai and yoghurt and soups are all I eat).  Now lower abdomen is very tender two days now.  WHAT OTHER POSSIBILITIES SHOULD I BE ASKING --- INSISTING --- MY DOCTOR LOOK INTO?  Thankyou for your time.

Hi KEL1951,
For the esophageal symptoms you can have tests done like 24 hours pH monitoring and esophageal manometry to rule out GERD and esophageal spasm.
For the gas in the urine you need to consult an urologist to rule out any communication between the gastrointestinal tract and the urinary tract.

Thought of anotherrpossibility for the gas in the urine.  Another possibility set includes a fistula (passage from the digestive tract into the urinary tract).  Is there any unusual color in your urine?  Have you discussed this problem as well with your doctor?  Lower abdominal pain could also be caused by inflammation (which would be consistent with the fistula)  Still wondering if there might be some environmental contamination, or infection.  The amount of gas indicated is extremely unusual.  Are you taking any other medications or herbal supplements?

Looking for commonalities in your symptoms.   If you can stand it, use a small amount of spearmint, it will help break up the foam a bit, and hopefully help the gas pass a bit easier.  Mint mentos will certainly work (similar to the mentos in the soda trick).  It may accellerate the gas removal, but when the gas is removed, may give further relief for a time.  Spearmint leaf and suchlike would as well be a good idea.

This is a shot in the dark, but you may wish to have yourself checked for a blood-level or mucal candidiasis.   Complete shot in the dark though. This can be aggrivated if your blood sugar is high, or you have sugar in the urinary tract from diabetes.  I'm no doctor, nor do I pretend to be.  A bacterial culture of the sputum may be helpful as well.  The pink-tan granules may or may not be related to the chai.   Another thing to check is if there is some saponification agent in the food/water you're consuming.  I.e. a detergent or soap that can cause foaming.    The urethreal gas discharge is more indicative of a systemic bacterial infection, however.

Have you had a urinalisys with a bacterial culture and sugar/protien scan?
