bump on upper lip

I took a fall over three years ago.  Ever since I have had a lump in my upper lip that increases and decreases in size yet is not penetrating the surface.  I have been told it is probably a mucocele but if so can it be removed at this stage and is it more difficult to do?

I'm losing sleep over this and just want to get it over with sooner rather than later.  If I call them to have it done next Tuesday can I go back the following week to get the stitches out or is there a longer recovery time?

The lesion is actually 2 cm.  Can they still remove this one with local or should I be sedated for the surgery?
