Mitral Valve Prolapse
Hello, I have Mitral Valve Prolapse.  Diagnosed not too long ago after visiting a Cardiologist complaining of left sided chest discomfort.  I got the diet and exercise speech and was sent on my way.."See you in six months" Uhh..Ok, I guess I just have to deal with this discomfort then? Tests performed: Nuclear Stress Test and Echo.  Stress Test normal, Echo diagnosed the Prolapse obviously.  Can I take anything for the chest discomfort?  Or do I have to power through it?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Was an EKG done? If the EKG was normal, you don't have to worry about Mitral valve prolapse. Beta blockers and aspirin are indicated if you have rhythm abnormalities or if prone for blood clots.  Lifestyle modifications like avoidance of caffeine, exercise, relaxation techniques and pain relievers are advised. So, you can use OTC Acetaminophen for relief from pain. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
