Hematoma complication

Hematoma complication

I am 3 weeks BA post op.  Woke from that surgery immediately knowing something went wrong.  I was found to have a hematoma on the left side underarm, bled a lot, went into shock, and was taken back to surgery for removal of the hematoma quickly.  Implant had also slipped due to the blood loss !  The emergency surgery and a blood transfusion solved the immediate problem.  However, the pain where the hematoma was removed has not eased, although the pain from the implants has.  At my first post op visit , my CS told me that lymph had drained into the space where the hematoma was removed and I was given a steriod shot to the area.  The pain has lessened , but is still with me every day, and so is the lymph fluid swelling. This is beginning to worry me alot- will I ever be rid of the pain and swelling ?  How long  should I expect to be dealing with this?
..Beginning to really "freak", I called my CS's office back 2 days after the visit ,and was told the lymph and pain would go away and would not be permanent as I am beginning to fear.  I love my new breasts, but this is really beginning to scare me ! Is this complication more than they are telling me ?

This is an extremely unusual complication.  In the absence of any physical abnormality or deformity, I believe that time and frequent follow-up visits with your surgeon would be the best course of action.  I have not seen this problem and therefore cannot predict whether the pain is temporary, or a symptom of some other problem that is developing.
