Lower stomach swelling after lower body lift

Lower stomach swelling after lower body lift

I had a lower body lift on 6/11/07. I am pleased with my results but have been battling fluid retention the whole time. I have to be on fluid pills daily to control it. I am going in on 10/19 for a revision to my lower stomach because of a "fluid pouch" that won't go away.It causes discomfort all the time and doesn't look very good. My doctor is planning on removing it along with some tissue and some skin to help flatten my stomach. He is going to do it while I'm awake and on meds. Is this a common procedure?

Seromas or the accumulation of fluid beneath the skin flaps following a tummy tuck are not uncommon.  Drains placed at the time of surgery help to reduce this risk.  Fluid accumulation that occurs after the drains are removed, is treated with needle aspiration.  Rare, as in your case, is surgery done to obliterate the space where the fluid is accumulating and removed additional tissue.
