Neck lift scarring under chin

Neck lift scarring under chin

I had a neck lift and chin implant five weeks ago.  After two weeks, I developed lumps, then deep horizontal wrinkles in my neck.  Now, I have dimpling and wrinkling, more in the center and right.  I also have a very large vertical platismal band which greatly restricts the range of motion in my neck when looking up.  Two weeks ago, my PS told me to massage the area and sleep with a towel under my neck, but it has not settled down and I am rather self-conscious about it in public.  Before the surgery, I had a smooth neck with two small platismal bands.  I do not remember discussing any of these complications before the surgery.
Thank you

At five weeks, scarring is at its most extensive between the neck skin and the underlying muscle.  This will gradually resolve over the next several months.  You might discuss the use of a compression garment (neck band) with your surgeon.  I find that this helps resolve the scar tissue and smooth the skin.
